2nd Weekly 10 for Tuesday

The last 10 for Tuesday wasn’t an astounding failure, so I’m going to continue until I lose interest….In case you missed the first one,  I’ll list 10 things you didn’t know about me and maybe wished you didn’t. Think of it as your invitation to voyeurism.  Read more »

Yesterday, I wrote about my pledge to sensuality, my desire to fully seize and experience life. One thing I have realized is my propensity to try and work on 3-4 tasks at once. I watch TV, fold clothes, read email and drink tea, all at the same time. What happens is I no longer do any one of these activities well. And, I when I finish these things, I find only one really caught my attention. I either didn’t see what happened on TV or had no idea what my tea tasted like or didn’t really pay attention to what my friend said in her email. I think one key reason I haven’t fully lived is because my attention has been distracted and divided. I think to really achieve what I want, I have to be single-minded. I need to give my attention fully to one task at a time. That is when I can really achieve that moment of Carpe Diem.

I’m Branching Out

I’m very excited to announce a new project I’m a part of, Dreamloom. Dreamloom serves up analysis and reviews of TV’s best and worst. My first post offers an analysis on what makes House such a fun show to follow.

I was introduced to Dreamloom by my twitter friend, R.A. Porter. He is also becoming one of my favorite blogs to read. Visit his blog and find out why I like him so much. You might even decide you want to become a subscriber! He’s funny, intelligent and a very good writer!

On another note, I was checking out my stats, reviewing keyword phrases used to find my blog - that sort of thing. My favorite? “what should you always have in your pant”. Hmmm… makes me wonder what I wrote to bring in that kind of traffic AND what my answer was.

Ten for Tuesday

I want to lighten up the mood a bit after last night’s rant about the gay adoption ban in Arkansas. So, here is a new segment: Ten for Tuesday. I’ll post 10 things you probably don’t know about me. It’s like having an invitation to be a voyeur into my life. :)

Feel free to join in with a few of your own.

Ten Things You Don’t Know and Maybe You Don’t Want to Know

  1. I consider cooking an art form. I rarely follow a recipe and love to experiment.
  2. I paint with oils.
  3. I like to sleep in complete darkness. So much so, I’ve started using one of those sleeping masks. I love it.
  4. When I get excited or otherwise emotional, I wiggle my toes.
  5. I have a tatoo somewhere on my body. It’s a red Chinese character meaning Love and was done by an artist named Bean. He had a copyright symbol on his neck and tiger claw scratches on his cheek. (They were a tatoo, not actual scratches.)
  6. The only foreign countries I’ve traveled to were Canada, Mexico and Fiji. Fiji was by far my favorite. I stayed for 3 weeks and went alone when I was 20 years old.
  7. I love to fly. In an airplane, not a broom despite what some might think.
  8. My heroes are: Oprah, Pres.-elect Obama, Samuel L. Jackson, Martin Luther King, Jr., Molly Ivins and Cormac McCarthy.
  9. I think Stephen King has more genius than he gets credit for.
  10. My first cat was named Puck.

That’s it for today. Tell me a few things about yourself and throw in a link to your blog/website. I would love to learn more about you.

Arkansas is Ignorant. I’m Taking Back my Razorback Duffel Bag for a Refund.

For years, I lived near Arkansas. And then, I moved to Arkansas. I joined the Democratic party in Arkansas, ran for my county’s executive committee and then was nominated and elected to the Arkansas Democratic Party’s state committee. However, because I moved I only had the chance to attend one meeting. It’s a shame.
