Curt Yagi & The People Standing Behind Me
I’ve been listening to a San Francisco gem – singer/songwriter Curt Yagi and his band (The People Standing Behind Me). Yagi was voted Best in the Bay in 2008 for a reason. As I listen to his newest CD, “Close My Eyes”, I feel transported, peaceful. I can almost taste the Mai Tai I should be enjoying at a beach somewhere. The acoustic guitar is sublime. Track 6, “If Only” is a wonderful blend of acoustic, electric and vocal – it’s new but somehow reminds me of the great Southern Rock of the 70s with the peaceful, whimsical quality of a Jason Mraz single. One of my favorite songs on the album is the first track, “Live My Life”. I love how he takes brass and woodwind instruments and incorporates them with a bit of a Reggae feel.
What I really enjoy about this new release is seeing how Curt’s progressed and matured as an artist. “Close My Eyes” is something I’d definitely pop in my CD player or download to my iPhone to listen to on a day when I really need to unwind and release all my stress. He performs live in the San Francisco area. To all my Bay area friends, if you get a chance to hear him play, I’d highly recommend you do so. It’s a perfect girls night out or date experience. You can check out his gigs on his website, www.curtyagi.com.
Listen to a few tracks from his album!

I’ve had some response on Twitter too. Some of my readers get an email feed and the comments come later. Might also have a few on Facebook who take a listen. Good luck. It’s a great album!
