A Big Lemonade Stand

‘When life hands you lemons…’

Lately, it’s felt like life didn’t just hand me some lemons, but rather pelted me over and over on the head with them. I was bruised, made a great homemade facial and drank a few tasty cocktails. Now I’m in the process of building a lemonade stand. And let me say, I have a bigĀ barrelĀ of lemonade to share with you.

This week, I’m focusing on gratitude. Why? Because counting one’s blessings isn’t just a Sunday school lesson or some grade school moral. Changing your focus can change how you feel about life. The secret to life is that it’s not all bad or all good. Life comes in seasons. It’s like a circle or a wave. Sometimes you’re on the top. Sometimes you’re on the bottom. Griping about where you’re at in the journey gets you nowhere. It only makes you miserable. But, when you focus on the good, you begin to see more good. And the more good you see, the better you feel. And the better you feel, the better you can cope, renew yourself and achieve your goals.

A few posts ago, I called it my grey sky/green grass phenomenon. So, here’s my cup of lemonade for the day.

I’m grateful for family. For my parents, my grandma, my sister. This thanksgiving will be the first time since 2006 that I’ve been able to sit with them and share the holiday. My parents have always been there when I needed it most. We’ve had our disagreements. I get on their nerves at times. They get on mine. Yet, when the chips aren’t just down but crumbling in my hands, they are here for me. I have a roof over my head, food in my stomach and a great holiday to share with them.

I’m grateful for their love and support. What’s your cup of lemonade for the day?

Welcome back!
