A Little Explanation

Its’ been a while since I’ve blogged. I’ve been packing, loading, cleaning and traveling cross-country with three children. Since I’ve been here, I’ve been unpacking clothes, enrolling my oldest in school and getting settled into our new transitory life. I say transitory because I have no idea if this is the city I’ll stay in. I don’t know where I’ll get a job or what I’ll do. But I do know I’m here for now.

I have several options and I’m weighing them all. I’m grateful to my parents for allowing us to have a place to stay until I figure things out. It’s cozy, comforting and they are as loving and accepting as I could want them to be. If it were just me, I probably would’ve stayed in California. But with three kids, you can’t gamble the way you would when it’s just you involved. I can’t risk being homeless. I can’t risk having the electricity or gas shut off on me in the winter. Water is too vital to allow my pride to get in the way of my children’s comfort and safety.

I’m not quite connected to the Internet yet, but I have ways of making do until. So I’m typing this on OpenOffice, saving to disk and uploading when I can access my mom’s computer. Because it’s in her room, I don’t want to get too invasive of her privacy. Plus, this past week was her last round of chemo. So – she’s been sick in bed a lot. Her comfort is more important than my accessing email. If you’ve emailed me recently and I haven’t responded, it’s because I haven’t been online to check yet.

I can’t wait to get going with blogging. I can’t wait to get back on track with my life, get a job and settle in a home of my own.

Welcome back!
