The Toshiba Has Risen
I resurrected my old laptop! Apparently, I did a fine job sodering the port in place but the power cord was zapped.
As strange as it sounds, I feel sentimental about this computer. My husband (soon to be ex) bought it for me. And whether you can understand that or not, it makes the computer special for me. I have more on my heart to write about that later, but for now I’m thrilled about having a pc again. The Mac was pretty, but not nearly as flexible, user-friendly or with as many shortcuts as the pc. I can do soooo many more things with keyboard shortcuts on my pc than I could with the Mac. Plus, the file system is much more easy to maneuver.
One thing I’m thinking about doing is cleaning it up a bit, doing a system check and updating my computer drivers. It runs fine but I have old Lexmark drivers that need to be updated. My mailbox is stuffed to the max (more than 1600+ emails) and I need to figure out what files are still relevant and what needs to go.
I’ll probably also do a system check, look for bad sectors, clean up the disk, do some compression – all that regular maintenance stuff. I also need to back everything up and get my iphone synced back up with this laptop. Also – having Windows Vista, I need to check the new printer I bought and see if Windows XP drivers are all that’s available or if I’m good to go on that end as well.
I know I’ve been silent and I have much more to say, but it’s late. So I’ll leave it with a safe topic for the night – I’m happy to see my Toshiba light up once more.
