Life

Life is strange. And unexpected. It is mysterious and stranger than fiction. And all the other little cliches people assign to it.

Life is full of dips and dives, mountaintops and valleys. In the midst of great heartache, one can find joy so ecstatic it overwhelms.

Today, I got a couch. And talked with a friend. And heard my child laugh.

Today, I smiled. I smiled bigger than I have in a long while.

Today, I found courage.

And I realized my life isn’t quite over yet. I realized the pain that envelops will dull over time and the thought that, if I allow it, happiness does not have to be a stranger to me.

Today I saw one intention come to pass and it gave me hope that if I dared to dream it, bigger, deeper, more hidden dreams could expand and unfold, if I let go and let myself dream them.

Today I found, in the smile of a friend, the courage to face what I must and the hope of better things to come.
