Yesterday, I had my first official session with Personal/Life Coach, Jennifer Priest. (Check out her blog, too or follow her on twitter!) I am very pumped! Already, I can see how advantageous it is to have this extra ‘help’ in my life. For those not familar with coaching, the following excerpt from Jennifer’s website sums up the essence of a life coach’s purpose.
Personal Coaching is about eliciting fulfilling outcomes in your private and professional life. Coaches are trained to listen, be in tune, and respond to your particular needs.
Coaches know clients are naturally creative and resourceful and it is the coaches’ job to bring out and enhance your greatest skills, tap in to your strongest resources and bring out your innate creativity.
I went into this with a positive attitude, fully excited about the possibilities, but even so, I am amazed at the skill Jennifer has in placing the obvious in front of me and painting a pathway toward my goals – even those I halfway gave up on myself.
For those who have bothered to read the ‘Why I Write’ page, you know it has been my dream to write. In fact, since I was in grade school, I can remember a burning desire to see my name on the outside cover of a book, next to the words ‘written by’. But dreaming and doing are different things entirely.

In this last session, Jennifer guided me through a series of questions – right to the door of action. Together, we figured out what it really was that held me back and came up with a bite-sized plan to get my shizazz together and commit to my passion. (Reminds me of “What About Bob” and ‘baby steps!)
I can’t wait to blog more in the upcoming months! This week’s homework was to devote myself, a few hours a day, to a pet project I have, as well as creating and publishing a resume/portfolio website to showcase different writing samples – one step closer to my dream as a writer.
Welcome back!

Thank you so much! I appreciate the words of encouragement.
