Why I love Twitter

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

None of my ‘real world’ friends understand my passion for twitter and none of my family are really on twitter much either. Sorry mom, but I don’t think I’d want you to ‘follow me’ on twitter anyhow. That would almost be like you hanging out with me at a bar. I just don’t think it would work. :) (more…)

Welcome back!

Twitter

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Twitter is definitely a new obsession for me. The best part is the great connections I’ve made. Meeting people from all over the world, all over the U.S. – it’s amazing. I’m hooked. And I totally understand what these folks are feeling.

Life Coaching Progress

Friday, March 27th, 2009

It’s been four days since my last session with Jennifer. (If you aren’t sure what’s going on, you can catch up here.) As part of our last session, I committed to applying for 11 freelance writing jobs, writing on my novel at least 30 minutes a day and continuing with the goals set from last week. (more…)

Progress with Jennifer Priest, Life Coach

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

I have my next session with Jennifer Priest later today. I’m pumped and ready! To recap, we had decided I would spend time working up an online resume/portfolio for freelance writing and web-related services, as well as a few hours devoting myself to an additional project I have in the works. I want to hold myself accountable to you as well, so I’ve decided to share these goals and my progress here.

I have purchased the domain name and set up web space for the online portfolio. I set up a blog using WordPress 2.7.1 and have selected a theme fitting the site’s purpose. I have also created several pages to have a structured feel to the site and have organized my thoughts concerning what the content should be. I’ve also contacted my previous editor regarding placing my work for them online. From this point, it is just a matter of sitting down for another 3-4 hours and getting all this content published to the site.

I also applied for a freelance position with a major website blogging a topic I am very comfortable with and would enjoy very much.

Just the fact that I have made progress is exciting me and I am very pleased to see results. I can’t wait to see how today’s call goes. Be expecting a post later today or tomorrow!

New Journey

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Yesterday, I had my first official session with Personal/Life Coach, Jennifer Priest. (Check out her blog, too or follow her on twitter!) I am very pumped! Already, I can see how advantageous it is to have this extra ‘help’ in my life. For those not familar with coaching, the following excerpt from Jennifer’s website sums up the essence of a life coach’s purpose.

Personal Coaching is about eliciting fulfilling outcomes in your private and professional life. Coaches are trained to listen, be in tune, and respond to your particular needs.

Coaches know clients are naturally creative and resourceful and it is the coaches’ job to bring out and enhance your greatest skills, tap in to your strongest resources and bring out your innate creativity. (more…)

Pillows Pillows Pillows

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

My homesickness has reached new levels. Not only am I walking around signing Sandy Cheeks songs, but I am also tearing up at Man v. Food, as he visits Austin and Amarillo, Texas. The sight of a woman balling as she watches a man attempt to devour 72 oz steaks and donuts as big as his head is not a pretty sight.

To cure me, I’ve been trolling the internet in search of great Texas artifacts to fill my home in random places. Most of what I found was either somewhat ugly or downright creepy. I was pretty down over it all and figured it would be difficult to find anything.

Until – I thought of a great sewmistress, Kylie Bennett of Fabulously Fierce. Kylie is talented and artistic, with a creative edge. I thought she would be the best bet to stave off the fuglies. (Visit her Etsy Shop.)

So, last week I ordered custom made pillows to satisfy the Texan in me. Kylie helped me pick out fabric and discuss options. We tossed around ideas such as chili peppers, barbed wire, lassos, etc – and finally ended up with these pillows. She was helpful and professional. Word is – they are in the mail and on the way! Now all I have to do is buy new wall art and other stuff to go with the great pillows.
