Curt Yagi

I’ve had the pleasure recently of listening to one of San Francisco’s up and coming musical talents, Curt Yagi. His music is a hazy-dazy delight, a blend of Norah Jones and John Mayer. While his style is hard to tag and his lyrics are unlike any other, what I really enjoyed the most from the CD was the obvious talent Curt has in handling instruments, both his own voice and the myriad he plays on his CD “What’s Come Over Me”.

Without a doubt, if you are in San Francisco and have the opportunity to catch a Curt Yagi show, you should. I kept thinking to myself, this would be the perfect way to unwind one evening with a bunch of girlfriends. Sitting at a sidewalk cafe, the caressing, melodic sounds…..  It would ease my stress for sure. He is also winner of the San Francisco Bay Guardian’s 2008 Best of the Bay Singer Songwriter.

What’s extraordinary about Curt isn’t just his music. During the day, he works with http://www.rocksf.org/, an organization devoted to working with children to promote their success and education through the power of music. I’m a sucker for children and there is always a special place of respect in my heart for anyone who devotes his or her life to making a child’s world a better place.

Check him out at CD Baby.
