I was missing your emails in my inbox! That inner critic is hard to get a handle on sometimes. We don't want to crush him for good (funny how its automatically a "him" in my head!) because he has a positive side as well... he drives us to self-improvement and success but just like fear there are two types: the healthy fear and the phobia fear.

In my opinion the best thing to do to rein in the inner critic is to tell him you're "doing the best you can" and to take the time you refer to and show "him" how to love yourself with compassion. You are just as important and as worthy of compassion as everyone else in your life - maybe even MORE SO because so many people likely rely on you for compassion and understanding they don't get anywhere else.

We all need to demonstrate we're worthy of receiving compassion and love by giving it to ourselves - so love yourself deeply and be kind - you are entitled to it!

I've realized that I don't need anyone to criticize me. I do all that and more quite nicely. I think people would be surprised at the depth of vitriol I can throw at myself.

It is strange we have to remind ourselves of this. I would never say or think the things I do about my friends and loved ones - even strangers. It's time to turn my compassion and love I send outward, inward.

Thanks for stopping by!

I am one of those people whose inner critic is stuck on "high". Treating ourselves with compassion is a great idea. Strange that we even have to think about something like that. I'll keep your words in mind, thanks.
