I’m only half way through the second debate and I’m a little annoyed by Tom Brokaw. He keeps pouting about a 1 minute time limit, but he isn’t enforcing it. But he complains about it. And then he lets both of them John McCain ramble on and on and on. (Okay, Obama is rambling a bit too, but I actually enjoy listening to him.)

So, I’m proposing two new rules for the next debate.

1. Time limits will be strictly enforced. Once the time limit is reached, the candidate’s microphone is turned off and no one can hear him. After 2 or 3 questions where they never actually got to the point, they will learn to ANSWER THE QUESTION instead of reciting pretty poetry about everything they have and will do and what the other guy sucks at and is guilty of doing. And then, when someone asks them what they will do to solve xyz, they will answer, succinctly, abc.
2. At anytime should the candidate lie, he will be zapped with a non-lethal level of electricity – just enough so that he will yelp and the American people will know without a doubt that he is lying. Then we can see who is lying more and what they are lying about.

Ok, I doubt the presidential debate commission will listen and I REALLY doubt either side would agree to these rules, but don’t you think it would be much more interesting?
