The news is everywhere – McCain/Palin is accusing Obama of consorting with terrorists (um, no he isn’t) and Obama is reminding us of the Keating 5 scandal (don’t ask me to say anything about this. I’m for Obama and I don’t have to be ‘fair and balanced’ on my own blog).

But mud-slinging isn’t new. In fact, it’s been around a long, long time in presidential elections. Cracked.com posted an article listing some of the most bizarre accusations in our country’s history. Everything from President Adams accusing Jefferson of wanting to destroy Christianity and allow prostitutes to ’serve’ in holy sanctuaries everywhere. He even called Jefferson’s momma a whore.

Then there is the election between Rutherford B. Hayes and Tilden where many votes were disputed thrown in the trash in Florida. Oh, gee does THAT sound familiar? The article is worth the read. Spend a few minutes today and do it now.
