Sweden, The Land of my Ancestors, Solution to Bad Banking

I wish the American government would take a clue from Sweden. They faced a similar financial crisis in 1992 and solved it, apparently for the better according to the NY Times.

No More Texting in CA Behind the Wheel

So, the Governor has signed a law making it illegal to text while driving. First of all - it’s about time. Second - it’s just a sad commentary on people’s ability to evaluate risk vs. benefit that we would even have to have someone to tell us NOT to text while driving. Maybe that is the reason we are in such a big financial crisis - people aren’t able to clearly see cause and effect and do STUPID stuff not considering it could have damaging results. (How would you feel looking at the mom whose infant just died in the car crash you caused by texting ‘wtf’ to your buddies?) Read more »

If you’ve got nothing to hide…

I don’t know what the answers are in the Palin probe - troopergate, if you will. So that is why I would like to see the investigation move forward. Let the facts present themselves. And Americans deserve those facts before November.

So why is the McCain campaign seemingly against this?  http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/25/palin.investigation/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I would want to know if my potential president abuses power on a smaller scale. I have a right to know.

Suspend the Campaign?

I’ve just read news that Sen. McCain is requesting to suspend the campaign to attend to te financial crisis that the nation is facing.

While it may be  a smart move on McCain’s part, I also think this campaign is so important right now - maybe more important than ever - I almost do not want to see it suspended. The debate that will (might) occur Friday could help determine who leads our country out of this mess or who leads the country into more of the same. I think the American people need to see those differences highlighted, especially when the economy is on everyone’s mind.

I’m interested to see what will happen. Does anyone out there have an opinion as to whether it should or should not be suspended?

Leptitrex Review - Day 23

So far - I’ve lost 5 lbs as of last week. Because it’s about that time of month, I’m a little weary of weighing myself. I tend to hang on to water when Aunt Flo visits so I don’t want to disappoint myself.

But -for me, 5 lbs in less than a month is pretty good. Normally, I’ve been losing very slowly - 1 lb a month. I think after the third child my body has just screeched to a halt when it comes to metabolism. Plus, I have been far from perfect in my diet, so I would say it’s helping for sure. 5 lbs is much better than none at all. Read more »

Getting it Out of My System

There is so much, so much I want to blog about but I can’t put it all in one post. So, I’m doing a series of ‘getting it out of my system’ posts. The first one?

I’ll share a video going around on YouTube. It’s 8 minutes long, but worth the time to watch it. I wonder, sometimes, where the outrage over the Iraq war is and then I realize a few things. Read more »
