Aww shucks, here I go again….

Ok – here I am watching Oprah’s recap on her ‘Big Give’ show. And darnit, if tears aren’t wellin’ up in these here eyes.

I’m watching about a woman who was given ten thousand dollars and told to go give big. She ended up raising close to $13o,000 for a family whose house had burned completely down. She had nothing to gain by doing it, except to know that she had helped pull someone up when they were down.

What I like about this show is the feeling that America has a chance after all. American’s aren’t necessarily the selfish, self-absorped and arrogant people the rest of the world sometimes see us as.

I’m inspired me to reach out and help others, even if I don’t know them. I hope others are moved the same way.

The other day I wrote about our nation needing healing. I think this is a step in the right direction.
